A Hairy Situation

My hair is out of control. I am shedding so much hair, its seriously not even funny. You know exactly where I've been, by tracking down where the shedded hair is. Now I shed a lot of hair even before I was preggy. Then of course, during the pregnancy, you stop shedding your hair altogether, which is why some women, like Gwyneth Paltrow sported some luxurious, full body, locks while she was preggers.

Then post-preggo, the shedding begins. I guess mine took a while since it's now 4 months later.

Hair is everywhere! I leave trails where I sit, sleep, shower, walk. On any given time of day, I can pull my hair and I swear tons of stray hair fall out. And that's not good for baby cause if he gets a hold of it, I fear some scary turnicate issues, so I try to avoid baby getting a hold of any of my stray hairs. Which is practically impossible. That, and the fact that baby actually doesn't care for the hairs that have already fallen from my head, he tends to prefer the ones still on my head! And boy can he pull!

With the amount of hair I shed per day, it's amazing that I still have a full head of hair! This is crazy!

The hubby enjoyed the 9 months of a clean and pristine shower drain. Gone are those days, cause now...oh boy, now, it's just a hairy situation.

A Rash Decision

Baby has cradle cap, it's a type of rash. Cue the sympathetic awwws.

Actually its a lot better now. He doesn't have it on his scalp at all anymore, thanks to the tea tree oil that our doc gave us. But the rash moved down to his face, his handsome, adorable little face, and for a while there it was bad. But again, thanks to the tea tree oil, his face is all better now. But now the rash moved down to his neck. So let's hope the tea tree oil works its magic yet again.

Heat seems to exacerbate (yup, exacerbate, the latest addition to my expanding clinical vocabulary repertoire, courtesy of greys anatomy!) his rash, so this hot hot weather doesn't help him much, which gives us a great excuse to only venture to places powered by AC!

I must admit that ever since we found out I was preggo, I've been a medical and baby development research fiend! Thank goodness for Google! In fact, I pride myself on making several self diagnoses that have indeed impressed my own docs! Well, ok, those who know me well, know that I'm a bit of a hypochondriac. Ok fine, I'm a total hypochondriac. In fact, my family and friends laugh at me, because I go to the doctors so often that the nurses and the receptionists know me by name! I'd like to think it's because I'm such a fun and charming person - but others would argue its simply because I visit there too often. Regardless, my doc offices, all of them, general practice, and my OBGYN, and even dental, it's like Cheers, everybody knows my name...and they're always glad I came... Ok I will stop now. STAT!

And ever since we gave birth, I've developed a newfound respect and admiration for doctors and nurses. They are awesome, awesome people! I cannot imagine the pressures of their profession, or how they are even able to balance it with any sort of personal life. Kudos to them!

So in short, baby's rash is getting better.

I once wanted to become a doctor. But when it came time in college to choose between scheduling a biology class and an art class. Well, we all know what I chose.

It was a rash decision.

Sweet Pea

Drumroll please...

Baby is now eating solids! Yup just last week, baby had his 4 month doctor's appointment, where he registered in at a whopping 16 lbs! And has grown to 25 inches now! He's a happy, healthy and big baby! We know where he got the happy and healthy from, but we're still trying to figure out where he got the big from?

He got 4 more vaccination shots, which were pure torture for mommy. But one of the highlights of our visit was the doc's thumbs up to introduce mr. baby to solid foods now! Yay! The hubby and I have been anxiously awaiting this momentous milestone!

Even funnier is the fact that most babies start off with the "Rice Cereal" first. It's a porridge-like cereal that is a great and easy starting point in the world of solid foods. So the hubby and I thought that would be baby's first solid meal. Nope! The doc said since baby seems to be a big eater and more than ready to take on solids, he recommended that we bypass the initial rice cereal stage and move on to the big boys --- strained veggies!

So baby enjoyed his first taste of sweet peas and boy does he love em! He knew exactly what to do too! We read that some babies may not know what to do when solid foods are fed to them since they have grown accustomed to nursing and bottle feeding. Not our baby! Once he saw the lil spoon coming, he opened wide and IN the peas went!

Now how the peas came OUT is a whole other story!

Pomp and Circumstance

Last Sunday was a big milestone for us newbie parents. We left our lil one with my sister the sitter to watch TRANSFORMERS with my niece, nephew and friends at the dome!

I made sure to overpack his bag. I packed extra bibs, cause he spits up a whole lot. I packed extra clothes for all his wardrobe changes. We packed anything and everything and even brought along his favorite toys and bouncer so he would feel somewhat familiar. After I was done packing, I showed the hubby and he claimed it looked like I packed enough for a week-long trip out-of-state! =)

I just wanted to make sure he had everything he needed and more just in case...

So we arrive at my sister's house, which by the way is only a couple blocks away from ours, (like literally a mile and a half away), and we unload everything. I made sure to give her specific instructions on how he likes to be held/carried while being put to sleep, and what sounds he likes to hear as he dozes off, which by the way is humming the tune to "pomp and circumstance" - another lovely thing the hubby got baby used to. By the time he actually graduates, I'm afraid he'll fall asleep marching down the aisle!

I made sure to show my sis how all his toys work and which ones he prefers and how he like to play with them. I showed her his formula and how to mix it and what temperature he likes his bottles. I showed her everything. And gave her our cell numbers again, as if she didn't have them already and never called us before.

Our friends met us at my sis' house and then off we went to Hollywood to watch the highly anticipated TRANSFORMERS. Awesome action scenes! Definitely worth seeing on the big screen.

I couldn't wait to get back. I missed my lil' guy so much! The hubby is used to being apart from him since he goes to work every day, but this was my first time ever being away from my baby!

During our ride back to my sis' house, I was wondering how many toys he played with, did we bring enough? I was thinking about how many bibs he went through, and how many wardrobe changes he had, did I pack enough diapers? Did he have one of his growth spurts where he eats way more often, did I bring enough formula? I thought about his stroller/bassinet and wondered if my sis would understand how to work it. And more importantly, did she remember to hum "Pomp and Circumstance?"

When we got there, I went straight to baby and asked my sis how he was?...

...He slept the whooole time.

Jump Jump

Baby turned 4 months on the 4th of July!...which means he's finally old enough for his JUMPER!

So I took it upon myself to assemble this jumper, cause well, I didn't get to assemble his other toys and stuff since we assembled those while I was still preggy and so I was in no shape to assemble things then, it was all the hubby, and so I wanted to assemble this one - without the hubby's help. Plus, I've assembled many furniture pieces from IKEA on my own before, so I felt up to it. It's a jumper, how hard can it be?

Well, let me just tell you that mama doesn't need to do her workout regiment for the next couple of days, cause I sweat enough buckets and burned more than enough calories assembling that freaking jumper!

Maybe it was the 100+ degree heat in Burbank that day, or maybe it was the post preggo hormones, all I know is that Jumper worked me! I was sweating all over the place trying to put this thing together.

So after hours of assembly, hours of sweat and hours of reading and re-reading the instructions, it was done and all ready for baby!

...Then I read that little babies should only stay in it for 15 minutes max to play.
