Pomp and Circumstance
Last Sunday was a big milestone for us newbie parents. We left our lil one with my sister the sitter to watch TRANSFORMERS with my niece, nephew and friends at the dome!
I made sure to overpack his bag. I packed extra bibs, cause he spits up a whole lot. I packed extra clothes for all his wardrobe changes. We packed anything and everything and even brought along his favorite toys and bouncer so he would feel somewhat familiar. After I was done packing, I showed the hubby and he claimed it looked like I packed enough for a week-long trip out-of-state! =)
I just wanted to make sure he had everything he needed and more just in case...
So we arrive at my sister's house, which by the way is only a couple blocks away from ours, (like literally a mile and a half away), and we unload everything. I made sure to give her specific instructions on how he likes to be held/carried while being put to sleep, and what sounds he likes to hear as he dozes off, which by the way is humming the tune to "pomp and circumstance" - another lovely thing the hubby got baby used to. By the time he actually graduates, I'm afraid he'll fall asleep marching down the aisle!
I made sure to show my sis how all his toys work and which ones he prefers and how he like to play with them. I showed her his formula and how to mix it and what temperature he likes his bottles. I showed her everything. And gave her our cell numbers again, as if she didn't have them already and never called us before.
Our friends met us at my sis' house and then off we went to Hollywood to watch the highly anticipated TRANSFORMERS. Awesome action scenes! Definitely worth seeing on the big screen.
I couldn't wait to get back. I missed my lil' guy so much! The hubby is used to being apart from him since he goes to work every day, but this was my first time ever being away from my baby!
During our ride back to my sis' house, I was wondering how many toys he played with, did we bring enough? I was thinking about how many bibs he went through, and how many wardrobe changes he had, did I pack enough diapers? Did he have one of his growth spurts where he eats way more often, did I bring enough formula? I thought about his stroller/bassinet and wondered if my sis would understand how to work it. And more importantly, did she remember to hum "Pomp and Circumstance?"
When we got there, I went straight to baby and asked my sis how he was?...
...He slept the whooole time.
